Its lush, walled gardens are so modest you can hardly see them until you pass the security cordon and enter the triumphal entrance arch, modeled after Marrakech’s signature city gate. A five-minute taxi ride will take you to Djemaa el Fna to nearby restaurants or shops in the new city.

Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food here is fantastic. Come have breakfast on the patio and you will be warmly welcomed, seated and served quickly.

Located south of the city on the road to Ouarzazate, the hotel has a secluded feel that guests love. Trips to Medina are provided with free car service. Adjacent to the resort is the Amelkis Golf Course, while the Royal and Al Maaden courses are a five-minute drive away.

Breakfast at Amanjena includes an unusual selection, including French toast with roasted peaches and vanilla yogurt, and chia seed pudding with coconut milk and wild raspberries.

Impressive plates continue to flow into the main restaurant, where diners eat in a mini-riad amidst a forest of honey-coloured marble columns. There is a dual Italian and Moroccan menu, including divine Moroccan dishes of roast lamb with saffron rice or a whole baked fish stuffed with vermicelli.

Situated on the top of the Anfa hill in the most prestigious area of Casablanca, the hotel looks out over the boundless Atlantic Ocean. The famous Hassan II Mosque on the waterfront offers a leisurely hillside walk, while Anfa Place Mall is a 10-minute taxi ride away. A two-hour drive will take you to the capital of Morocco, Rabat, to explore its historical sites.

Fresh, elegant, with plenty of suaveness and marble, this compact hotel is more European than Moroccan, but Moroccan influences are elegantly integrated into the décor, creating a calm, sophisticated atmosphere. Perhaps the hotel’s most impressive feature is the Guerlain spa. A 90-minute imperial relaxation massage is a must.

There are three restaurants.

Relax in pillows whose colors are reminiscent of the setting sun over the blue sea while enjoying authentic Moroccan and Middle Eastern dishes. It should be noted that although a five-star hotel is not usually the place to go for a tagine, the interpretation of this hotel is surprisingly excellent. Tea is best enjoyed on the terrace with Moroccan chairs arranged around a blazing fire.

Beautifully located on a 231 hectare estate in Tamslucht, 12 km from Marrakech. The property features the resort’s only 18-hole golf course, designed by renowned American course architect Cabell Robinson.

A series of interconnected cubes, the earthy apricot center of the Fairmont echoes the xars (fortified villages) of the southern oases. Sensitive to the desert climate, magnificent interiors create a complex play of light and shadow. Huge panoramic windows reveal stepped pools from which tall palm trees rise, giving the impression that you are standing on the edge of an oasis.

There are fabulously decorated bars and restaurants on either side of the entrance. Created by interior designer Marilyn Spataro, they combine luxurious materials and textures, bringing together the best of Moroccan craftsmanship in a rich, layered modern look.

The state-of-the-art sports center (including four tennis courts and two squash courts) and 3,500 square meter spa center have their own pools for guests to enjoy the day; while the 18-hole golf course offers all the features of a country club. Few things are as delightful as breakfast on Le Caravane’s terrace overlooking the pools and gardens. However, you will need a few days to try all the dishes on offer, from homemade grub bread to sweet cakes, jerky and a savory counter filled with salads and smoked salmon.

At lunchtime, everyone heads to L’Olivier, an open-air poolside restaurant serving light Moroccan cuisine, while in the evening, guests can opt for a royal Moroccan feast at Al Ain. The highlight is the jazz bar, with its sultry lighting and red velvet seating.

Four Seasons Hotel is located on the edge of Hivernage next to the Menara Royal Gardens, a 10-minute drive west of Jemaa el Fna. In the evenings, guests can drive to restaurants within and outside the Medina free of charge.

Despite its rather boxy architecture, this resort delivers incredible enjoyment thanks to its thoughtful layout, sophisticated service, and some clever culinary concepts. Centered around the main center (where you’ll find a large, well-chosen boutique, lounges and two restaurants), the resort branches out into modest two-story pavilions and residences surrounded by beautiful manicured gardens. Book a few nights and you’ll want to stay at least a week. The only problem will be finding a free room.

From pool attendants with towels to tennis coaches, gym instructors, spa therapists and kids club educators, everyone here is focused on giving you the best service they can.

To one side of the main center of the hotel is the multi-level, mosaic-style family swimming pool with multiple seating areas and direct access to the kids club; while, on the other hand, there is a discreet adults-only pool with cocktails and a restaurant shaded by a gazebo serving light lunches and live music on Sundays. Located just outside the walls of the Medina, on Sidi Mimus Street, which is the main taxi route. This means cars can drop you right outside the door, which is convenient. Jemaa el Fna Square, Bahia Palace and Kasbah are around 10 minutes’ walk away, while other attractions can be easily reached by taxi.

Step through the carved door into the citrus-scented garden and you might think you’ve stumbled upon a secret royal palace. Water gurgles soothingly from the fountain, while olives and palm trees frame intricately carved plaster arches. In the center is a mirrored pool that reflects the sky and is surrounded by impeccable white-cushioned lounge chairs.

Inside, the club’s French-colonial style continues the luxurious yet intimate ambience from the wood-panelled restaurant to the wide leather sofas and velvet club chairs that frame the huge fireplace in the main saloon.

The service is consistent and excellent and includes a full range of concierge services. In addition to the large heated main pool, which is a lot for a pool in a riad, there is a small plunge pool on the rooftop terrace. There is also a beautifully designed restaurant with large French doors opening onto the courtyard, a small gym, a very beautiful underground hammam and an excellent spa offering a long list of professional facials, scrubs, massages and masks using natural NUXE products.

The food here is heavily French influenced.

This resort is located 20 minutes southeast of Jemaa El Fna. A free shuttle takes guests to the Medina when needed. Various golf courses are within easy reach and the Museum of Contemporary African Art is next door.

Like a resort, the food is modern and inventive, but also draws on tradition.

Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay is amazing. Overlooking an expansive, flat beach, the hotel combines the region’s Andalusian-Moorish heritage with Moroccan heritage, resulting in serene yet majestic architecture stylistically tied to the site.

The opulent reception building is cut through with long corridors and tall arched doorways and is adorned with handmade mosaic tiles and wrought ironwork. While the exterior is austere, the interiors are opulent, elegantly decorated with intricate Moroccan panelling, and decked out in rich bronze and blue.

Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay is a beachfront villa resort with buildings surrounded by tidy lawns and palm trees.
