Le Grand Bellevue 5*

Le Grand Bellevue is surrounded by a colorful park. It seems lonely, but at the same time it is located at the beginning of the bustling promenade and a 4-minute walk from the train station.

The mountain cable cars are a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute chauffeured ski bus ride away, while Glacier 3000 is a half-hour train ride away. There are also some beautiful hiking trails nearby, including a four-hour hike to Lake Lauen from the top of the Wispiel Cable Car.

The hotel has a great selection of services. There’s a cinema, mountain bike hire, car tours in a 1963 Bentley once owned by Roger Moore and a boutique, but the highlight is the 3,000 sq m subterranean Le Grand Spa. There is a large indoor pool and jacuzzi, a thermal oasis with 17 heat therapy sessions, a well-equipped gym including SensoPro physiotherapy, and daily yoga and pilates classes. Treatments include everything from a personalized massage using organic Bamford products to three-hour steam sessions and Botox from Geneva’s Rive Gauche clinic.

The 57 rooms and nine suites are spacious, bright and well appointed. A base of neutral tones creates a calm mood, while accents of burgundy, caramel or gold shades play in checkered pillows, houndstooth curtains and designer lamps. George Smith leather armchairs add to the luxury, while some rooms add interest with wooden beams. The beds are so comfortable that it is difficult not to fall asleep. Room 103 has a huge terrace, but the most beautiful are rooms 107 and 108: they are located in the tower and seem light and open thanks to their circular walls. An added bonus is that the bathrooms throughout the building are all cream and granite, with mirrored entrances and complementary patterned ceilings, a large window (some with views of the lush greenery), two sinks, and a separate bath and shower filled with Bamford minis. Other perks include a coffee maker, a free mini-bar that is replenished daily, and a delicious slice of homemade cake before bed.
