Ultima Gstaad 5*

Ultima designer furs and velvets, an abundance of marble, bronze and antique wood, as well as a SPA with a luxurious, yacht-like gloss, exude the opulence that Gstaad’s luxury hotel exudes.

Hotel guests are provided with unprecedented privacy.

Ultima is a strip of three incredibly stylish chalets nestled between rolling meadows and the road to Glacier 3000, a 10-minute walk from the ‘designer waterfront’. Getting around is easy with Maybach’s free chauffeur service. Staff in elegant designer uniforms offer warm conversation at every opportunity. They are efficient and unobtrusive, they even deliver water with fruit to the pool to restore the water balance after swimming.

It’s easy to get lost in time at the SPA. There is an abundance of orchids and water that oscillates between emerald and blue, water that never ceases to enchant. Amenities include a large indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna, steam room and gym. In the massage, talented massage therapists use La Prairie’s expensive aromatic and silky oils to enhance the pleasure of the senses.

There is also an aesthetic medicine clinic that offers state-of-the-art anti-aging treatments. A non-invasive radiofrequency treatment consisting of a gentle massage with heated poles to improve blood flow, makes the skin more elastic and youthful after just one session. There is also a cinema.

The private chalet suite consists of 11 apartments and six residences with marble kitchens and on-demand chefs. All residences are huge, expensively furnished and equipped with walk-in closets and the latest technology. Bronze fireplaces, bucket-sized candles, unique sculptures and coffee tables create an atmosphere of romance. There are also gorgeous bathrooms with Northern Italian gray marble panels, Hermes minis, rain showers with spotlights and a bath for two. Each room has at least one balcony with a view of Gstaad or the Diablerec massif, as well as a coffee machine and a selection of homemade cookies.

About food. La Duchessa is Ultima’s chic but informal restaurant with sultry lighting, a fireplace and well-spaced tables with velvet chairs. Breakfast is served here. Dinner combines Italian flavors with local organic produce. In the center of the hotel is a bar where bartenders are experts in mixology and can prepare cocktails for any taste. There is also a Detox bar serving fresh vegetable juices and a Shisha bar for smokers.
